About Me
Mark Aiki Jujitsu Instructor

I have trained in martial arts for 30 years and has reached the grade of 8th Dan Shihan, the equivalent of a “master" in Aiki Jiyu Jutsu – making me one of the highest ranked martial artists in the country.

I also teach my own system of self defence from my knowledge of Aiki Jiyu Jutsu, Tae Kwon Do and Jujitsu in private or public classes in Guisborough, Skelton and Saltburn.

Whats is Aiki Jiyu Jutsu?

Although Aiki Jiyu Jutsu was developed almost 400 years ago, it's basic intentions remain unchanged. Through Aiki Jiyu Jutsu, an unarmed samurai would be able to defend himself against both armed or unarmed opponents.

Zanshin Martial Arts teaches Aiki-Jiyu-Jutsu combining time-honoured samurai martial art techniques with those of the modern police force.  The result is an art with a broad base of self-defence skills.

Aiki-Jiyu-Jutsu consists of joint locks, projections, kicks, strikes, throws, pressure point techniques, ground fighting and weapons defence. Mark is thorough in his explanation of the techniques during his martial arts classes and is happy to answer any student questions.

Aiki-Jiyu-Jutsu has few rivals in the martial arts. Aiki-Jiyu-Jutsu is not designed to encourage violence nor promote aggression. Quite the opposite, our students tend to quietly avoid conflict and demonstrate confidence without confrontation.  Typically, the more experienced students are in martial arts, the less they tend to become involved in violent encounters.
